Day of Caring 2010 Atlantic City Electric Company
CODI Volunteer Highlights
Keith Buch
Looking for an opportunity to volunteer while working outdoors, Keith Buch began volunteering at CODI group homes pruning trees, shrubs, and bushes. He likens himself to former President Ronald Reagan - when he wanted to relax, President Reagan would go to his California ranch and cut brush. Although he doesn't have a ranch in California to travel to, Keith finds it rewarding to volunteer at CODI group homes. He enjoys the ability to transform the outside of the properties in a matter of hours and sees the fruits of his labor. He is employed as an Environmental Engineer at the FAA Technical Center and has worked there since 1988. As the Superfund Clean Up Program Manager for over 5000 acres of Research and Development property, Keith feels rewarded by remediating past environmental legacies and keeping many dedicated clean-up professionals gainfully employed.
What does Keith find most rewarding about his experience volunteering at CODI? The "thank you" he receives personally from the clients. As he stated, “You don’t have to be a CEO or influential politician to make a difference in people’s lives. The solution is there for everyone; it is just a matter of doing it.”

On April 24 employees from Atlantic City Electric Company participated in the United Way of Atlantic County’s sixth Annual Day of Caring. Volunteers arrived at CODI’s headquarters and literally dug right in. The group participated in several projects including cutting grass, picking up trash, planting flowers, weeding and staining the gazebo. CODI is truly grateful for all their help in sprucing up the main office and introducing CODI to some very giving individuals. Day of Caring provides local employees from area workplaces the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Atlantic County’s social service community and the work that local nonprofit agencies perform daily.
CODI continues to be grateful for our extraordinary partnership with the Caesar's Heroes program. As one of the largest casino subsidiaries in the country, Caesar’s Entertainment remains committed to making our community a vibrant place to work and live. The Caesar's Heroes program encourages employees to volunteer for civic organizations and charitable causes allowing them the opportunity to make noteworthy, visible contributions to the community through their donation of time, skills, expertise and compassion.
Last year, more than 85 Caesar's Heroes volunteers assisted CODI with fundraising events, activities and office tasks. With a combined total of 1,200 hours, volunteers provided valuable assistance to CODI while contributing to organizational successes. Their commitment and dedication are truly inspirational.
