About CODI
CODI History
Career Opportunity Development, Inc. (CODI) was founded by a group of parents as a not for profit in 1970 as a small storefront day program in Pleasantville, New Jersey providing services for individuals with disabilities. Over the years, after seeing the lack of comprehensive programming in our geographical area for individuals who experience physical, mental or economic disadvantages CODI took on the responsibility to fill the gaps and developed into an organization that provides a wide array of services assisting more than 1,000 unduplicated individuals annually. CODI’s vocational mission is to provide comprehensive programming for individuals who experience physical, mental or economical disadvantages.
CODI was founded by the parents of 25 students upon their graduation from the local Special Services School. CODI Residential Services (formally known as Project for Independent Living - PIL) began with the housing for chronically/mentally ill individuals.
Linda Carney named President/CEO of CODI.
CODI received funding through Atlantic County Government to begin the Welfare to Work program.
CODI received funding through the US Department of Labor-Employment and Training Administration for the Prisoner Re-entry Initiative.
CODI partners with John Brooks Recovery Center to receive Funding for Supportive Housing Program through New Jersey Division of Addiction Services (DAS).
2010. CODI received funding through the UD Department of Justice for the Second Chance Mentoring Grant.
